River Liu

Hello! I am a Vancouver-based photographer specializing in fashion editorial and portrait photography. My work has been published in magazines like Picton, Selin and Shuba.

I was born a Beijinger and lived in China until the third year of grade school. For the past 15+ years, I’ve been residing in White Rock, a small ocean-side town on the West Coast of B.C. In 2021, I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a BA in sociology and criminology, and photography accompanied me on the side throughout my school years. I have the cutest senior golden retriever Santa and a chubby cat named Duzi! I love thrifting, reading, and wondering aimlessly around the city and finding cute cafés :")

My inspiration and fuel for my creativity is this beautiful yet wicked world and the wonderfully complex humans and their relationships. I like to make genuine connections with every person I work with to make each session and collaboration meaningful even in the smallest ways, because I believe in the power of images and that one can truly rejoice and find peace in expressing oneself as one is!
